This is the stuffing my grandma always made at Thanksgiving. It is hands down the best stuffing you will ever have.
¾ loaf white bread
1 lb ground beef
1 granny smith apple, chopped
2 small red apples, chopped
6 stalks celery
1 onion, minced
1 bunch flat leaf parsley, chopped
1 cup turkey or chicken broth (preferably homemade)
½ tablespoon allspice
1 teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan.
Add the meat and cook over medium-high heat until the meat is well browned and sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Add allspice, salt and pepper and stir.
Add the onion and stir until translucent.
Add the celery and parsley and cook for 5 minutes.
Add the chopped apples and cook for 3 minutes.
Add the broth and stir until heated through.
Add the bread and sugar and stir until well combined.
Cover the pan and simmer for 15 minutes.
